Services
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is offered to Frankfort City Library cardholders. If you would like materials that the library doesn’t own, we can request to borrow items for you from another library in the state of Kansas!
What Types of Material Can I Request?
You can request any kind of book – fiction, nonfiction, children’s etc. You can request items in several forms including large print, audiobook CD and others. You can also request DVDs. We are able to request more than one copy of a book or DVD for book clubs or classrooms. You can request a new book just published, but occasionally it is unavailable until it is older than 6 months. We will make every attempt to borrow it.
How Do I Place an ILL Request?
ILL requests can be made in person at the library, by phone at 785-292-4320, via message to our Facebook page or email to franklib@bluevalley.com. Please include the title of the material you are looking for as well as the author or other identifying information.
Is There a Fee?
There is no fee for this service. The Frankfort City Library belongs to a courier service that delivers books every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We do gratefully accept donations for the annual cost of the courier.
How Will I Know When My Item Arrives?
You will be contacted by phone, email or Facebook message, according to your preference, when your item is available for pick up. It normally takes about 5- 7 business days for an item to arrive.
How Long Can I Keep ILL Items?
The length of time you will be able to have the material is determined by the lending library. Three to four weeks after you receive the item is common. Each item will have a form with the due date in the front when you receive it. If you wish to renew, contact the Frankfort Library and they can let you know if that is available. Patrons are asked to take extra care with borrowed items, as we must remain in good standing with other lending libraries in order to continue the service with them. A patron who has lost or damaged any material MUST reimburse that library.
This is a very popular service for the libraries of Kansas. We appreciate the State Library of Kansas developing this as an outreach program.

Our library has a wireless internet network that can be used both within the library and out front of our building. Patrons and community members are welcome to connect their phones, laptops and other devices to the network to use when in the area. It is an open network that does not need a password. The network name is “Library-Frankfort”.
Our library has an extensive collection of items ranging from family collections to school yearbooks, to maps and older related information. Hard copies of the current Frankfort Area News and Marysville Advocate are available. Former newspapers are available in hard copy from 1909 to current. Our staff can aid our patrons in finding the material they need. Some online resources to help in your research:

The year and date of your request is very important, if at all possible. Any research that takes less than 2 hours will be done at no fee. There is a $15.00 research fee for research taking 2 hours. Each additional hour will cost $5.00. Printing costs are not included in the fee. Please see the printing tab on this page for information about printing fees.
The Frankfort City Library encourages patrons to enroll in classes online or at universities. Many professors require online or written examinations to be done with a proctor. The library is happy to provide a proctoring service for these tests. The librarian will work with the professor to make sure all requirements are met and set up a time with the patron for the test to be given. The librarian will choose a time that will not interfere with library activities. Please contact the library at least 7 days prior to the test, if possible, so that all arrangements can be made with the college, professor and patron.
